By using Chess Review you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.

Who we are

Chess Review is published at whythatmove.com under the trade name WhyThatMove, operated as a sole proprietorship based in India. Paid plans and credits are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our merchant of record (see the refund policy).

The service

Chess Review analyses chess games with an engine that runs in your browser and writes explanations of the moves. It is provided as is, without warranties. Engine evaluations, move classifications, accuracy scores and written commentary are automated, can be wrong or incomplete, and are not identical to those of chess.com, lichess or any other service. Do not use them for anything where a mistake would matter (for example, wagers or disputes about fair play).

Your content and publishing

• You may only submit games you have the right to share. Chess moves themselves are facts, but names, comments and notes may be personal data of other people.
• Finished reviews are published to the public gallery by default (see Privacy). By submitting a review you allow us to store and display it publicly. Use the anonymous option if you do not want names shown.
• Discussion messages are public. Do not post spam, links, harassment, personal information or anything unlawful. We may remove content or restrict access without notice.

Game links and third-party sites

Fetching a game from chess.com or lichess is done at your request and is subject to those sites' own terms. You are responsible for only requesting games you are allowed to access. Pasting a PGN avoids any third-party request. We are not affiliated with chess.com or lichess.

Acceptable use

• No automated scraping, load-testing or attempts to bypass rate limits or quotas.
• No attempts to access other users' accounts or to disrupt the service.
• Do not use the service to build a competing dataset by bulk-downloading the gallery.

Accounts, quotas and plans

Instant on-device reviews are free. Cloud features such as chat and written deep dives are limited by account and by daily and monthly quotas, and may be unavailable when capacity is used up. Paid plans, where offered, are described on the Premium page; features and quotas may change. You are responsible for keeping your password secret.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or availability. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept it. The date above shows the latest revision.
